Another special economic zone will be created in Ufa region in Bashkiria

On March 20, in Moscow, the Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov met with the Minister of Economic Development of Russia, Maxim Reshetnikov. The parties discussed the issues of improving the infrastructure for supporting new investment projects, expanding the Alga special economic zone (SEZ), as well as creating another SEZ of a technical and innovative type in the republic.

Alga SEZ, created by the decree of the Government of Russia last year in the territories of Ishimbaysky and Sterlitamaksky districts of Bashkiria, has already proved its effectiveness. According to Ilshat Tazhitdinov, First Deputy Prime Minister - Head of the Administration of the Government of the region, six companies received SEZ resident status. The total investment in their projects will amount to about 10 billion rubles. This will enable the creation of 1400 new jobs. In 2021, projects of 10 more residents are being worked out. Their investment portfolio is estimated at 140 billion rubles.

Radiy Khabirov noted that the current territory of the special economic zone was almost completely distributed, in connection with which there was a need to expand the SEZ boundaries. The republic has developed a project for planning and surveying new sites with engineering networks and transport infrastructure.

Bashkortostan's initiative received support from the Russian Ministry of Economic Development. The meeting participants discussed the possibility of amplifying it with comprehensive solutions for territorial planning, construction of housing, industrial and social facilities for the Sterlitamak-Salavat-Ishimbay agglomeration.

Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov confirmed his readiness to assist in creating the second special economic zone in the Ufa region. The ministry's experts will consider this project after Bashkortostan prepares all the necessary documentation.
