Self-employed number exceeded 37.7 thousand people in Bashkiria

The number of self-employed in Bashkiria exceeded 37.7 thousand people, the head of the State Committee for Entrepreneurship RB Rimma Boytsova said.

The special regime "Tax on professional income" operates in the republic's territory from January 1, 2020.

Self-employed are provided with a preferential tax rate of 4% when working with individuals and 6% - with legal entities or individual entrepreneurs.

"According to the Office of the Federal Tax Service of Russia in Bashkiria, last year almost 1,900 SMEs that ceased their activities in 2020 registered as self-employed," Rimma Boytsova stated at a board meeting. "Now in the Volga Federal District, as well as in the country as a whole, there is a negative trend in the number of SMEs. Simultaneously, the situation in Bashkiria is slightly better; we decreased by 3.45% against -4.74% in the Volga Federal District and -3.93% in Russia. In terms of the number of newly registered SMEs for the total number of small and medium-sized companies, we look much better than the average for the district and the Russian Federation."

As the Chairman of the State Committee RB on Entrepreneurship emphasized, 2020 was a challenging year for everyone, "business was practically at the forefront".

"The industry had to take the hit of the restrictive measures that were necessary to contain the disease. In turn, the federal and regional governments have done everything possible to ensure that entrepreneurs survive this crisis. However, despite the measures taken, the pandemic has certainly left its mark," Rimma Boytsova concluded.

As the Bashinform News Agency previously reported, the government plans for 2021 to ensure an increase in the number of people employed in SMEs, including individual entrepreneurs, to 456 thousand people.

This year, the republic plans to increase the number of small and medium-sized businesses to 145 thousand units and self-employed - to at least 35 thousand people.
