Mortgage loans issuance increased by 41% in Bashkiria in 2020

In Bashkiria, the volume of mortgage loans issued in 2020 increased by 41% compared to 2019, the Governor of the National Bank of the Republic of Bashkortostan Marat Kashapov told RBC-Ufa on air. In general, the volume of loan debt amounted to 543 billion rubles (+ 18%), of which mortgages - 253 billion rubles at the beginning of 2021.
A quarter of all issued loans fell on “preferential mortgages”, including “rural”. The region took 1st place in terms of rural mortgage issuance in the Russian Federation. According to the top manager, loans spurred the rise in property prices and thus made it less affordable.
The overdue debt of individuals in the region is 4.2%, in the mortgage portfolio - about 1%. The ratio of the volume of loans to average income is 36% (in the Russian Federation - 31%), “this means that people are living in debt more than they save,” the Governor said.
