Electric aircraft and bionic devices will be first projects of Eurasian REC

The world-class Eurasian REC will become an integrator of science, production, and business. By 2024, it should give the first practical results, the Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov said today at a meeting with rectors of Ufa universities and heads of scientific organizations.
"By the end of 2021, we need to carry out several development works, obtain more than 440 patents for inventions, and publish 1,667 scientific articles. Furthermore, a powerful synergistic impetus to all processes will be given by creating an interuniversity campus in Ufa," said the Chief of Staff of the Head of the Republic, Alexander Sidyakin.
The world-class Eurasian REC will develop ten technological projects on elaborating 95 advanced scientific technologies in the "New Living Environment", "Digital and Green Chemistry, Energy", "Biomedicine and Genetics", "Engineering and Advanced Production Technologies" areas by 2025.
Rector of the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology Alexander Kuleshov offered Skoltech support to Ufa REC.
Rectors of Ufa universities shared their plans for work in the Eurasian REC.
In particular, USATU (Ufa State Aviation Technical University) aims to create an electric aircraft and implement hypersound and radio photonics projects within the REC. BSMU (Bashkir State Medical University ) and USATU in 2020 created a joint scientific department of biomedical engineering, where they are engaged in the creation of bionic devices for restorative medicine.
The rector of the BSMU, Valentin Pavlov, said that by 2030 the university would be able to close the shortage of medical personnel in the republic finally and at the same time ensure the export of Bashkir medicine by attracting a larger number of international students. In 10 years, every third medical student will be from overseas. UFIC RAS ​​Chairman Vadim Zakharov spoke about the project to create lithium-sulfur batteries, which are being developed jointly with USATU. The Foundation for Advanced Study examines this project, which can be implemented in the Ufa electric plane.
Recall that on December 3, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree on the results of a competitive selection of research and educational centers that will receive federal support. One of them is in Ufa. The world-class Eurasian Research and Educational Center includes six universities, three scientific institutions, and 20 organizations of the republic's economy's real sector.
