Blagoveshchensk began to produce PET packaging material using recyclable materials

Blagoveshchensk "Polief" is launching a project for the production of "green" PET granules, where it is planned to use annually about 34 thousand tons of secondary raw materials - flakes from used food packaging. The resulting granules will meet the growing market demand for environmentally friendly PET packaging, the press service of the government of the republic noted. The use of recyclable materials will reduce the energy intensity of polymer production and the amount of greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere.

The collection of used PET bottles in Bashkiria is 4 thousand tons per year, while the potential is up to 20 thousand tons per year.

PET (polyethylene terephthalate) is used to make food packaging for soft drinks, dairy products, medical supplies, household chemicals and etc. Such packaging is inert to the product, safe for humans and the environment, and can be completely recycled.
