"Kumertau" PDA hit Top-10 rating of single-industry towns in Russia

The"Kumertau" priority development area (PDA) hit the Top 10 according to the results of the annual rating of single-industry (mono-) towns for 2019, showing one of the highest levels of socio-economic development in Russia. The rating is calculated on 17 indicators. Among them - the city's interaction with development institutions, indicators for SME development, the quality and availability of infrastructure, and the economic situation in a single-industry town.

"Kumertau is rightly included in the Top 10 rating, due to the well-coordinated work of the leadership of the republic and the city. It is important to note that since 2016, 1,346 jobs have been created in the PDA," said Rustam Muratov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Government - Minister of Economic Development and Investment Policy of the Bashkortostan Republic.

During this time, more than 2.4 billion rubles of investments were attracted to the city.

"Today, there are 27 residents in the TASED. At the same time, the plans for 2021 are to attract at least 4-5 companies. We provide comprehensive support to the management of the monotown and are negotiating with several more potential residents," said Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investment Policy Yekaterina Klikunova.

Irina Makieva, Deputy Chairman of VEB.RF, Director General of the Monotowns Development Fund, believes that the top ten includes mono-towns that have already gone beyond the mono prefix.

The cities of Belebey, Kumertau, Neftekamsk, Beloretsk, Blagoveshchensk, and Uchaly are recognized as mono-towns in Bashkortostan. 66 organizations are included in the register of PDA residents. More than 400 thousand people live in these territories, almost 10% of the republic's total population (9.9%). Here, about 10% of the industrial production of the region is formed.
