Bashkir plant is to supply 36 million fasteners for Volkswagen and Škoda cars

The Belebeevsky plant Avtonormal (BelZAN, part of RT-Capital of the Rostec state corporation) signed a four-year contract with the Kaluga Volkswagen Group Rus (a subsidiary of Volkswagen AG) for the supply of 9 million units of fasteners annually for cars of the Volkswagen and Škoda brand.

"The Bashkir plant has become the first Russian supplier of fasteners for Volkswagen Group Rus. This is a significant achievement for the manufacturer and the Russian automotive components industry. The Volkswagen and Škoda brands' standards are high, and the use of Russian components means a further increase in the level of localization," said Alexander Morozov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.

Under the contract, the company has mastered 20 new types of fasteners with increased corrosion resistance. The production meets all the requirements for product quality according to the standards of the German Automotive Industry Association VDA (Verband der Automobilindustrie). The first batches have already arrived at factories in Kaluga and Nizhny Novgorod.

As recalled by the general director of RT-Capital (works with problem assets of Rostec) Kirill Fedorov, in 2019, with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia and the authorities of Bashkiria, it was possible to prevent the bankruptcy of the enterprise and begin the process of stabilizing it. RT-Capital is implementing an anti-crisis program, within the framework of which debt restructuring has been carried out, and the development of new technologies has begun.

"The long-term contract with a major international manufacturer is the result of this work. Recognition of quality for compliance with European standards of the automotive industry of the plant's products will allow us to expand the range of cooperation with automotive companies and enter new sales markets, including the CIS countries and Europe," said Kirill Fedorov.

The share of BelZAN in the Russian market of fasteners for the automotive industry is almost 36%. The plant is the main supplier of fasteners for such large Rostec concerns as KAMAZ and AVTOVAZ.

BelZAN group of companies is the city-forming enterprise of Belebey, providing jobs for more than 3 thousand people.
