Young people under 30 constitute one-quarter of economically active population in Bashkiria

In Bashkiria, young people (legally, the term refers to people aged 14-30) make up 25% of the economically active population. According to the 2019 sample labor force survey, the employment rate of youth aged 15-30 was almost 52%, as the Bashkortostan Statistics Agency reported for the World Youth Day. In the labor market, young people, due to insufficient or lack of work experience, often find themselves either in the part-time group or in the unemployed group. The youth unemployment rate last year was 6.5%.
In the 2019-2020 academic year, 97.2 thousand students studied at universities of the republic. 104.2 thousand people studied in colleges. Most of the students chose economics, law, information technology, electric and heat power engineering, mining, oil and gas business, mechanical engineering programs.
At the beginning of 2020, 788 thousand young people from 14 to 30 years old lived in the region. For several decades, young people made up about 25% of the total population of Bashkiria. By the beginning of 2020, its share is 19.5% of the total population.
At the beginning of the year, 517.7 thousand young people lived in cities, 270.3 thousand in villages. For every 1000 men between the ages of 14 and 30, there were 1077 women in the city and 827 in the countryside.
