In 2024, the capital of Bashkiria will celebrate its 450th anniversary. The Ufa city development program was ordered for this significant event. The day before, it was presented by Sergey Kapkov, head of the educational and scientific laboratory " Research Center on the Economics of Culture, Urban Development and Creative Industries" of the Lomonosov Moscow State University.
It provides for the improvement of 24 public spaces, the construction of new social facilities and the renovation of historical buildings, a project for the development of a new embankment of the Belaya River, the installation of new monuments, and the development of routes connecting key points of attraction for citizens.
The main promenade of Old Ufa will be Oktyabrskaya Revolyutsiya Street. The transformation will be accompanied by the restoration of historical sites, as well as the use of adjacent courtyards as points of attraction: food courts, small theater venues, creative spaces, open lecture halls, etc.
According to the concept, a 7.3 km long circular route will be created, which will unite the main points of attraction: the Embankment, the Friendship Monument, the Ar-Rakhim mosque, and Gostiny Dvor. The 91-kilometer-long central streets will be landscaped; six objects of historical buildings will be redeveloped.
The Belaya River's new embankment will also be transformed: it will accommodate a modern philharmonic society, a yacht club, a food court, a beach, children's and sports areas, alleys, and gazebos on the water. Bridges will be decorated with colored illumination.
The abandoned observatory (water tower) will be reconstructed and turned into a scientific and entertainment space with a planetarium, a cinema club, and a themed cafe.
A 35,000-seat universal stadium, a modern student cluster, is planned to be located in Ufa's Demsky neighborhood.
The authors propose supplementing the program with the installation of monuments to outstanding people whose life and work were associated with Bashkiria.
