Raw timber export from Russia will be banned

Today, during a meeting on the development and decriminalization of the forestry complex, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a complete ban on the export of unprocessed coniferous and valuable deciduous timber from the country.

It is reported that the head of the state demanded to make the entire chain from logging to the manufacture of finished products as transparent as possible in order to prevent loopholes for criminals.

The ban should be introduced since January 1, 2022.

The issue of illegal logging and processing has been raised more than once at the republican level. Thus, last year on the sidelines of the forest forum "Resources, partnership, integration" in the Karaidelsky region, the Head of Bashkiria Radiy Khabirov called the issue of timber processing a pressing problem.

"The export of round timber from Bashkortostan should be minimized. We are losing much money on this, both from the budget and from the residents," said Radiy Khabirov.

He used as an example the entrepreneur Nikolai Poryadin, who created in the village of Abyzovo, Karaidelsky district, an industrial base for processing wood for producing pencil lamellas for the famous Czech company "Kohinoor".

Earlier it was reported that 65-70% of the cut timber is actually commercial products in Bashkiria, and the rest goes to waste. In turn, about 20% of the total waste is used as fuel, and 80% is simply thrown away.
