Advanced gas processing cluster to be created in Bashkiria

General Director of Gazprom Transgaz Ufa Shamil Sharipov at the visiting "Investment Hour" session, which was held yesterday at the Kanchurinsko-Musinsky underground gas storage complex in the Kuyurgazinsky district, noted that natural gas was the basis of the energy balance of Bashkortostan. The region annually consumes about 15 billion cubic meters of gas. At the same time, most of it is used in heat and electricity, industry, housing, and public utilities, that is, it is simply burned.

One of the most promising options for using blue fuel may be the creation of a cluster for advanced processing of gas at "Gazprom neftekhim Salavat" LLC. This will make it possible to obtain high-margin, demanded products from inexpensive raw materials, which will positively affect the republic's economy. Petrochemists plan that the center of the cluster will be complex for processing natural gas into ethylene and propylene.

Airat Karimov, General Director of "Gazprom neftekhim Salavat" LLC, noted that the area adjacent to the enterprise would be the best option for locating the complex and suggested considering the possibility of including it in the Alga Special Economic Zone (SEZ).

Alexey Balyanov, Investment Director of the Salavat Industrial Park, spoke about plans to create within the cluster a whole range of high-tech petrochemical production facilities based on the raw material flows from "Gazprom neftekhim Salavat".

Alexey Balyanov expressed interest in locating these enterprises at one of the Alga sites.

Radiy Khabirov instructed the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Government RB Ilshat Tazhitdinov to study this issue.

"I totally agree that the strategy of our further development will be determined by creating enterprises in the field of deep processing. This is an essential project that can define the modern outlook of our economy. If the republic wants to be competitive in the future, then it is necessary to develop this area," said Radiy Khabirov.
