Population outflow has decreased by 10 times in Bashkir city of Kumertau over past two years

The diversification of the economy of the single-industry town Kumertau has made it possible to achieve a decrease in the outflow of the population by more than ten times over the past two years. Such data were announced at the Investment Sabantuy (Forum) in Sibay.

Since the Soviet times, the KumAPP helicopter plant was a town-forming enterprise of the city of Kumertau. However, in the post-Soviet years, the volume of production of helicopter technology has significantly decreased, which put the mono-town in a difficult economic situation.

The improvement of the situation was facilitated by the creation of priority development areas (PDAs). This status establishes a special legal regime for entrepreneurial activity, which provides for the provision of benefits to organizations - residents of the PDA in terms of exemption from property tax, reduction of income tax and insurance rates.

One of the largest PDA residents is a new oil extraction plant, where about 500 people were employed. At the end of 2019, the shipment of its products exceeded the indicators of KumAPP by 1.7 times.

In total, 26 residents have been registered in the Kumertau PDA over the past few years, more than a thousand new jobs have appeared.
