Protests for and against mountain mining are held near Mount Kushtau

Two rallies took place at the foot of Mount Kushtau near Sterlitamak during the day, at one of which they demanded to keep the mountain, and at the second - to resume geological exploration in Kushtau. In total, about 3,000 residents took part in both spontaneous campaigns, during which no one was hurt.
On August 9, near the mountain, activists-defenders of Kushtau lined up in a human chain. In total, together with representatives of law enforcement agencies, the number of participants in the campaign is estimated at 1200 people.
On the morning of August 10, about 1,500 residents of Sterlitamak organized a peaceful march to Kushtau. These were mainly workers of the BSC plant. They demanded to stop obstructing the legal exploration in Kushtau, which is being carried out in accordance with the permits and licenses issued by the federal authorities.
During the spontaneous campaign, no serious clashes between the supporters of the mountain mining and the defenders of Kushtau were recorded. Law enforcement officers work on the spot to ensure the observance of law and order.
