Unemployed number increased by 4.3 times in Bashkiria

Compared to the first half of last year, the number of unemployed in Bashkiria increased 4.3 times, according to the statisticians of the republic.

By the end of June 2020, there were 88,000 registered unemployed in the region.

In total, in the first six months of this year, 114 thousand people addressed to the employment service of Bashkiria. More than 17% of them found jobs through the employment service.

For comparison: in January-June 2019, 52 thousand people applied to employment centers for assistance. More than 70% of them found jobs through the employment service.

More than 26% of applicants this year had no work experience.

The overwhelming majority of 88,000 officially unemployed people, or 61%, are women, 23.8% are young people aged 16-29.

According to Bashkortostan Statistics Agency, the level of registered unemployment in the region was 4.65% of the labor force in June.

The educational level of the unemployed remains high, statisticians emphasize. Thus, the majority of the unemployed registered in Bashkiria have higher and secondary vocational education (56.2% of the total).

Meanwhile, if the number of unemployed in the republic is growing steadily, then the number of vacancies, on the contrary, is decreasing.

By the end of June, there were 40,000 vacancies in the region. This is 22.5% less than in June 2019.

Moreover, 67.5% of the vacancies in the region are blue-collar occupations.
