170 kumis farms produce 3.7 thousand tons of national drink per year in Bashkiria
In Bashkiria, the kumis season is in full swing. The region contains 9% of Russia's horses, and 45% of mare's milk is produced, the Ministry of Agriculture recalled. Today, 170 kumis farms in the republic with livestock of 8 thousand horses annually produce 3.7 thousand tons of product.
The republic has approved the subprogram "Development of horse breeding in the Republic of Bashkortostan" to preserve national traditions of horse breeding and further development of the industry. Support in the amount of 8.5 million rubles has been allocated for 2020, funds are provided for subsidizing the production and sale of kumis from locally produced milk.
