Fifth of workers are employed in trade in Bashkiria

Trade workers of Bashkiria celebrated their professional holiday last weekend. According to the relevant state committee, about 300 thousand people are employed in the field - almost 20% of the working residents of the republic.

In 2019, the contribution of retail and wholesale trade to the gross regional product exceeded 14%. 16.5% of taxes paid to the budget of the republic - 32.9 billion rubles - are accounted for the trade.

In terms of retail trade turnover, Bashkiria ranks 2nd in the Volga Federal District and is among the top ten regions of Russia. The annual consumption of goods exceeded 930 billion rubles.

According to the Bashkortostan Statistics Agency, the official average number of employees (excluding part-time and unregistered employees) of organizations by the type of economic activity “Wholesale and retail trade” in January-May 2020 amounted to 142.4 thousand people - 13.3% of the average number of organizations in the republic.

The average monthly salary was 26.8 thousand rubles - 73.4% to the republican level.
