Bashkiria took 30th place in income ranking of regions

In Russia, 12.3% of the population live below the poverty line; this is the conclusion made by researchers from RIA Rating. Bashkiria took 30th place in the ranking of regions by income.
The main indicator - the ratio of median incomes to the cost of a fixed set of goods and services - amounted to 1.56. The share of the population of the republic below the poverty line was 12.1% in 2019, while the share of the population below the extreme poverty was 1.8% in the same year.
The best situation in Russia is in the Nenets and Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Districts, following the results of 2019. Moscow takes the third line of the rating with a margin of 20%. The last positions are taken by Kalmykia, Gorny Altai, and Tuva.
In 2019, 12.3% of Russians, or almost 18 million people, lived below the poverty line (incomes below the subsistence level), which is less than the result of 2018 (12.9%). For comparison, the smallest share of the poor in modern Russian history was recorded in 2012, when it amounted to 10.8%, or 15.5 million people, the authors of the study noted.
