Bashkortostan agricultural export has doubled - up to $ 70 million this year

The agricultural products exports of Bashkiria amounted to 70 million US dollars since the beginning of 2020. The Federal Customs Service of Russia presented such data on June 10. Last year, by this date, this figure was at $ 36 million, or almost half as much.

The growth was ensured by the export of those types of products which production was several times higher than the needs of the local population. Thus, the export of sunflower oil from January to May 2020 amounted to 36.9 thousand tons, worth $ 25.8 million - four times more than last year. The main recipients were China and Turkey.

Besides, vegetable oil was produced in the region almost six times more than the level of local consumption last year.

The Bashkir sugar was exported for 12.6 million US dollars. Last year, more than 200 thousand tons of sugar were produced in the region, which is double the domestic demand. The Bashkir sugar was mostly exported to Kazakhstanastan and Uzbekistan.

Also, a significant share in the export structure of agricultural products was taken by seeds and fruits of oilseeds, as well as barley grain.
