Industrial production fell by 4% in Bashkiria in April

In April, the industrial production index in Bashkiria fell as a whole by only 4% compared to April 2019. However, the situation varies by industry sectors. The Bashkortostan Statistics Agency analytics shows that the lock-down industries showed a decline, but those who continued to work increased the indicator.
From the beginning of the year, the lag was observed in the production of furniture (-33% from January-April 2020), wood processing (-26%), the production of leather and leather products (-25%), metal products (-15%), drinks (-12%), coke and oil products (-9%), electricity, gas, and steam supply; air conditioning (-8%).
The output volumes increased: in production of motor vehicles (+ 48% versus January-April 2020), pharmaceuticals and materials (+ 36%), metallurgical production (+ 32%), textiles (+ 20%), computers, electronic and optical products (+ 17.7%), paper and paper products (+ 17.3%), food products (+ 14.7%), chemical products (+ 12%), clothing (+ 10.4%).
Mineral extraction grew by 5%, machinery and equipment production - by 3.8%, printing increased 7.8%.
The industrial production index amounted to 99.4% nationwide in January-April compared to January-April 2019. In the Volga Federal District, the indicator ranged from 88.4% in the Ulyanovsk Region to 108% in Mordovia.
