Catering industry turnover fell by 12% in Bashkiria in March

In Bashkortostan, the catering industry turnover fell by 12% in March (data for April are being processed), the decline was 3.4% since the beginning of the year. Retail sales grew by 4.7%, wholesale - by 8.5%, services - by 0.8%.

Since the beginning of the year, inflation amounted to 1.5% (0.1% below the level of 2019).

"In many respects, despite the growth that occurred at the beginning of the self-isolation regime, we did not even catch up with the prices of the previous year," the Chairman of the State Committee on Trade RB Alexei Gusev commented on the matter. "In mid-March - late April, certain types of products of the so-called "traditional medicine" were overpriced - this is ginger, lemons, and garlic. There was an increase in prices for goods of the fruit and vegetable group, but it was seasonal. Today we see that the situation has stabilized, the retail chains are even experiencing a downturn. We managed to negotiate with almost all retailers about minimum margins so that the price increase was controlled."
