Russia suspended grain exports until July to stabilize prices

Russia suspended the export of wheat, rye, meslin (a mixture of wheat and rye), barley, and corn outside the Eurasian Economic Union until July 1, national media reported. At the end of March, the Government adopted a decree introducing quotas for several crops up to 7 million tons. The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation marked that such a measure would stabilize grain prices. Besides, this decision will help to ensure the domestic needs for grain and its processed products.
According to the Federal Customs Service, in 2019, Bashkiria exported agricultural products for $ 112.2 million against the planned 91 million. In 2018, it was mainly grain for $ 76 million. Last year, the republic's agriculture reoriented to the export of oil and fat products, which occupied a share of 44%. It was exported from the region for almost $ 36 million - twice as much as before.
