Bashkiria Government will distribute territories not covered by Internet between providers

The Bashkiria Government plans to distribute territories not covered by the Internet between providers that will take over the provision of network connectivity. First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Nazarov stated this at a meeting on distance learning technologies.
As part of the implementation of the “Digital Economy of the Russian Federation” national project in 2019, Bashinformsvyaz PJSC connected 722 socially significant facilities to the Internet. In the first quarter of 2020, an additional 223 such facilities were connected.
Besides, a federal program is being implemented in Bashkiria to eliminate digital inequality, which includes 929 settlements with a population of 250 to 500 people. Of these, 831 are already provided with Internet access; the remaining 98 are planned to be connected before the end of 2020.
According to the Ministry of Digital Development, 1.3 thousand settlements with a population of 63 thousand remain without a wired Internet.
