Number of banks decreased in Bashkiria in 2019

The performance indicators of the banking sector of Bashkiria last year remained positive, but their growth slowed down. According to most development indicators, the regional banking sector has maintained its position in Russia at the level of 2018, as stated by the National Bank RB.

Thus, in 2019, the loan portfolio reached 853.5 billion rubles, an increase of 10.9%. The corporate loan portfolio grew by 1.8%, retail - by 19.2%.

“At the same time, the quality of loans for republican borrowers improved and remained higher than the national average. Thus, the level of overdue loans to households over the past two years has decreased from 7.1% to 3.7% (in Russia - 4.2%), corporate clients - to 6.6% (in Russia - 7.1% ) ”, it was announced at a meeting in the Branch-National Bank of Bashkortostan.

In Bashkiria, there is also an increase in preferential lending to small and medium-sized businesses. Last year, the number of loan agreements amounted to 13.3 billion rubles against 158 million rubles in 2018.

Meanwhile, last year, the optimization of the banking network continued. Thus, the number of banks represented in the republican market decreased from 59 to 56. According to experts, this is due to restructuring and consolidation processes in the banking sector, as well as the withdrawal of one regional credit organization from the market.

According to data at the beginning of 2020, there are now 858 divisions of credit organizations in Bashkiria.
