Smart transport system for 1.5 billion rubles is to be created in Ufa agglomeration

In 2019, Bashkiria became part of the working group on the implementation of the smart transport system on the road network of the Russian Federation. The term for the creation of the system in the territory of the Ufa agglomeration, which includes Ufa and the neighboring regions of the republic, is supposed to be five years, and the estimated costs are 1.5 billion rubles. It was announced at the session of the State Committee RB for Transport and Road Facilities.

As explained to the Bashinform News Agency by the head of the State Transport Directorate RB Mansaf Nazakayev, in 2019, an agreement was signed with Rosavtodor to allocate 660 million rubles for the implementation of the smart transport system project over three years. In the future, it is possible to obtain additional federal tranches.

The project involves the creation of specialized software and a situational center for monitoring and managing the situation on the roads. It is planned to install 134 smart traffic light objects with an automated traffic control system, 19 smart road signs, 6 weight control points, and 56 surveillance cameras in the Ufa metropolitan area. The effect of the smart system introduction should be a decrease in accidents and increased road safety, as well as an increase in the highways throughput by several tens of percent due to traffic flows optimization.

After the implementation of the project in the Ufa agglomeration, a similar system can be created around Sterlitamak and in other areas of the republic.
