New Ufa-Agidel railway line should link three river ports of Bashkiria
In Ufa, the Bashkiria State Transport Committee Chairman Timur Mukhametyanov and first deputy general director of Russian Railways Vadim Mikhailov discussed the development of the republic’s railway infrastructure. According to the State Committee’s press service, it was about modernizing the railways on the southern bypass section of Ufa, completing the reconstruction of the railway station of the Ufa station, as well as building a new railway line Ufa-Blagoveshchensk-Birsk-Agidel.
This branch will connect the three river ports of the republic in Ufa, Birsk, and Agidel. It will also provide the possibility of transshipment from rail to inland water transport and will allow the development of a cargo port in the city of Agidel. Its appearance will ensure the development of enterprises of the fuel and energy complex, the timber industry complex, and the production of building materials in Birsky, Buraevsky, Dyurtyulinsky, Krasnokamsky, Kaltasinsky districts, as well as in the city of Agidel.
It is assumed that this project will be implemented on a co-financing basis. A roadmap and terms of reference for designing, a project at the approval stage, have already been prepared.
Timur Mukhametyanov noted that the construction of new tracks in the northern part of the republic will optimize freight flows and reduce the cost of transportation services for businesses. The agreement on this railway line is planned to be signed in September this year.
