Bashkiria ranks fifth in Russia in number of individual investment accounts

Bashkiria took fifth place in Russia in the number of individual investment accounts and the first in the Volga Federal District, the National Bank RB reported with reference to the Moscow Exchange.

By the beginning of this year, residents of Bashkiria opened about 51.3 thousand of such accounts. This is about three times more than at the beginning of 2019.

An individual investment account (ISS) is considered a universal account for operations with securities. It can be opened for free through brokers or management companies, including commercial banks that provide brokerage services.

IIS funds can be invested in stock market instruments - stocks, government and corporate bonds, exchange-traded funds, and mutual funds.

Such investments allow receiving dividends on shares, interest on bonds, as well as income due to the difference in price when buying and selling securities.

“It is essential to understand that such instruments do not have a guarantee of profitability, and they can lead to both profits and losses of the investor. An individual investment account is not a contribution and is not protected by the state insurance system, ”said Marat Kashapov, managing director of the Department-National Bank RF in Bashkiria.

As experts emphasize, if an investor has little experience and is unsure of his/her decisions, then it is better to contact a professional intermediary - a management company. At the same time, both a broker and a manager must be checked for a Bank of Russia license. It can be done on the website of the regulator cbr.ru or via the hotline (8-800-300-3000, 300 on mobile).

“In addition to income from investments, an investor is entitled to one of two types of investment deductions on personal income tax. This may be a deduction in the amount of 13% for an annual contribution of up to 400 thousand rubles (return of previously paid income tax in the amount of up to 52 thousand rubles per year) or exemption from taxation of the entire amount of income received to IIS (when closing the account), ” added Marat Kashapov.
