Khabirov announced start of largest solar power plant construction in Bashkiria

The construction of the largest solar power plant in Bashkortostan with a capacity of 25 megawatts has begun in the Sterlibashevsky district. The project cost is 3.5 billion rubles, the Head of the Republic Radiy Khabirov reported on social media.

“A year ago, an agreement was signed at the St. Petersburg forum - and now the investor has begun to build the largest solar power plant in the republic with a capacity of 25 megawatts in the Sterlibashevsky district,” he posted. “The district itself consumes about 4 megawatts, that is, the energy generated by the solar panels will be enough for the surrounding areas, up to Sterlitamak”.

Commissioning is scheduled for the summer of 2020. The number of employees from among local residents is at least 20 people.

This project is important not only in terms of “employing people in the republic but also as the most environmentally friendly way to generate energy”, the Head of the Region emphasized.

“The innovation in this solar power plant is the use of modern solar cells that work well even in cloudy weather. It is especially relevant for our latitudes. And it is for this reason, that solar energy development in the past years has not been as active here as globally. Now we are in this trend! Besides, it is also important that the additional capacity in the electric networks will attract other energy-intensive industries into the region. This means more new jobs,” summed up Radiy Khabirov.

As the Bashinform News Agency reported, it is planned to invest more than 6 billion rubles in the construction of solar power plants.
