Average debt of Russians to banks is named

UFA, 21 January 2020. /Bashinform News Agency, Galina Bakhshieva/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.
By the end of 2019, the average Russian citizen's debt to banks increased by almost 11% and reached 249 thousand rubles, RIA Novosti reports citing Equifax credit history bureau data.
According to analysts, the personal debt of an average bank customer over the past three years has increased by almost a third. The main reason for this growth is the activity of banks to offer their customers pre-approved loans.
Last year, the most significant debt fell on borrowers aged 31 to 40 years. Personal debt from this group of Russians amounted to 319 thousand rubles for each, an increase of 12.5% over the year.
In 2019, a high level of debt was recorded and among borrowers aged 41-50 years old - about 308 thousand rubles per person. It is 10.7% more than at the end of 2018.
Meanwhile, the most active amount of personal debt is growing among young borrowers. The debt of Russians aged 22-25 increased over the past year by 14% - up to 134.7 thousand rubles.
Russians from 26 to 30 years old also increased their debt to banks over the year - by 14%, or up to 243.4 thousand rubles each.
Experts separately distinguish the category of the youngest clients - Russians under the age of 21 years. A few years ago, banks preferred not to work with them, but by the end of 2019, this category of customers accounted for 2% of all bank borrowers. At the same time, their debt over the past year has slightly decreased - from 41.7 to 41.2 thousand rubles.
According to the Bank of Russia, by September 1, 2019, 39.5 million Russians, or almost 54% of the employed population, had at least one loan. At the same time, the share of borrowers with several types of loans is growing.
As the Head of the Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina reported in December, the share of borrowers with mortgages and other loans at the same time had already exceeded 40%.
