Cancer is detected in 13 thousand residents of Bashkiria annually

Within the framework of the “Healthcare” national project, the Republican Oncology Center received new equipment: an X-ray diagnostic complex, video bronchoscopes, a computer tomograph, a mammographic X-ray apparatus, and microscopes. It will enable us to carry out about 120 thousand studies a year. To date, more than 85 thousand people who have malignant neoplasms are registered with the center. More than 13 thousand cases are registered annually.

In Bashkortostan, early diagnosis increased by 1.5% per 100 thousand people. This allowed reducing mortality from neoplasms by 2.3 percent. In the structure of morbidity, breast cancer occupies the first place, lung cancer takes the second place, and skin cancer takes the third place. In the structure of mortality, lung cancer occupies the first place, stomach cancer takes the second place, and breast cancer takes the third place.

Also, the construction of an extension to the existing surgical building of the Republican Oncology Center continues as part of the project “Fighting Oncological Diseases.” Besides, four outpatient oncological care centers were established at the clinical hospital No. 13 of Ufa, hospitals of the cities of Kumertau, Neftekamsk, Oktyabrsky, which are necessary for a comprehensive and quick diagnosis of common types of malignant neoplasms.

In the next two years, eight more such centers are planned to be opened in the republic.
