Construction of Podolskoye copper-zinc deposit mine is launched in Bashkiria

Today, the construction of an underground mine with infrastructure and development of reserves of the Podolskoye copper-zinc deposit took place in the Khaibullinsky district of the republic. The commissioning of the first phase of the facility is planned for 2025; it is expected to complete it in 2032. The total investment is about 50 billion rubles, at the expense of UMMC's funds and borrowed funds.

The agreement on the investment project was signed on June 22 at the first all-Russian investment Sabantuy in Sibai. The document was signed by Acting Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov and the general director of UMMC-Holding, Andrey Kozitsyn. Moreover, on July 9, UMMC and Sberbank signed an agreement to start financing of the project at the Innoprom exhibition in Yekaterinburg.

Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov in his speech noted that today the large-scale construction of the largest production for the republic in recent years started.

In addition to the construction of the mine, the project provides for the construction of a new ore processing plant, a complex of treatment and water intake facilities, an energy substation, as well as various technological, administrative and domestic buildings and structures. It is assumed that with the enterprise going to full capacity, production volumes will reach 4.3 million tons, and the number of employees will amount to 1400 people.

According to preliminary estimates, the mine will be operated for 44 years.

Andrey Kozitsyn, General Director of UMMC Holding LLC, thanked the republic’s leadership for supporting the project and full understanding.

UMMC acquired a license for the Podolskoye deposit in 2006. According to the company's estimates, the mine’s reserves are 88.6 million tons of ore, which contains 1.3 million tons of copper, 1.2 million tons of zinc and 29 tons gold. The Podolskoye group of deposits is one of the largest in Russia.

The Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company (UMMC) unites more than 40 enterprises of various industries located in the regions of Russia. The company is the only Russian zinc producer, the second-largest producer of copper, also produces steel, precious metals, and coal.
