JSC Polyef completed reconstruction of terephthalic acid production facilities in Bashkiria

Today, Polyef JSC, part of the SIBUR Holding, has completed the reconstruction of terephthalic acid production facilities. As a result of modernization, its capacities increased from 272 thousand tons to 350 thousand tons per year. Polyef now is the only producer of terephthalic acid in Russia, which is the basic raw material for the synthesis of polyethylene terephthalate (PET). The volume of consumption of terephthalic acid is about 500 thousand tons per year in the Russian market. Modernization of production will significantly assist in replacing imports. The project budget amounted to more than 6 billion rubles, including about 1 billion rubles of loan funds were allocated by the Mono Cities Development Fund.

The opening ceremony was attended by Acting Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Pavel Sorokin, Chairman of the Board of SIBUR Holding PJSC Dmitry Konov, heads of partner companies and contracting organizations involved in the project.

Radiy Khabirov congratulated all those present on the completion of the works and noted that the economic effect was expressed in increasing the production of terephthalic acid to 350 thousand tons.

Over 150 units of the main technological equipment, as well as most of the auxiliary equipment, were updated at the enterprise. Key works covered 11 production buildings. About 40 Russian contractors were involved in the construction, installation and commissioning works.

SIBUR Holding PJSC is the largest petrochemical company in Russia and Eastern Europe with a full industrial cycle from gas processing, production of monomers, plastics and synthetic rubbers to plastics processing. The holding manufactures products at 22 production sites, the company's client portfolio includes more than 1,400 consumers in the fuel and energy complex, automotive, construction, the consumer sector, chemical and other industries in 80 countries. The total number of employees of the Holding exceeds 27 thousand people.
