Radiy Khabirov: “Tourism is significant sector of our economy”

The Acting Head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov called tourism in the republic a significant sector of the economy and emphasized that he would continuously monitor this area. The head of the region devoted a meeting to this issue with the heads of relevant ministries, departments, and representatives of the tourism industry.

“We have unique tourism potential, but everything else, starting from infrastructure, information, etc., does not correspond to it. We actually have some reference points, but their development will take time,” said Radiy Khabirov. “Alongside with that, we should saturate what we already have with the content. It seems that this has not been done yet. We are unanimous in one thing: let’s not waste such a high potential as ours”.

In Bashkiria, within the framework of the Tourism Development Concept, it is planned to create unique tourist sites, organize major events, establish systematic work on business tourism, build infrastructure, develop complex ready-to-operate travel routes and promote tourism products to the foreign market.

In the national tourism rating, Bashkortostan hit the Top 10 leading regions. The republic also occupies leading positions in the country and the Volga Federal District in terms of tourist flow, the size of paid services in the tourism sector, the number of hotels, resorts, and other accommodation facilities.

Since 2018, the tourism brand Terra Bashkiria exists in the region, which was later recognized as one of the best Russian branding projects in the last decade.
