Labor Ministry proposed to make maternity capital program termless

The program of maternity capital should be termless, according to the Ministry of Labor.
RIA Novosti reports with reference to the first deputy head of the Ministry of Labor, Aleksey Vovchenko, that the ministry advocates making this measure permanent and the value of the maternity capital constantly indexed.
Before him, the Speaker of the Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko, said that she was counting on extending the maternity capital program until 2025. She noted that this decision could be made before the end of the year.
The maternity capital program has been operating in the country since 2007. It was extended until the end of 2021 by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
A certificate for maternity capital is issued for the birth of a second or subsequent child in the family. To date, its size exceeds 453 thousand rubles.
These funds can be used to improve housing conditions, to educate children, to pay pensions for mothers. It is forbidden by law to cash the certificate to protect family capital from unjustified embezzlement by parents.
As reported by Bashinform News Agency, the Minister of Labor and Social Protection RF Maxim Topilin said in early June that after indexing from January 1, 2020, the amount of maternity capital would be 470 thousand rubles.
