Turkish hotels cut down prices for Russians

UFA, 17 July 2019. /Bashinform News Agency, Galina Bakhshieva/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.
Turkish hotels cut down prices for accommodation in July-August by 10-15 percent. Hotels, which previously sharply raised the cost of living, now are short of tourists, «Izvestia» reports citing ATOR.
According to the Association of Professional Hotel Managers of Turkey (POYD), in Antalya, the average hotel load for July-August is projected at 90–92 percent. At the same time, the occupancy rate of some hotels will not rise above 82–85 percent.
Analysts believe that it relates those hotels that, against the background of the successful season 2018, have raised prices too sharply this summer.
At the end of 2019 more than 6 million Russian tourists are expected in Turkey. Over five months, about 1.7 million Russians have vacated in the country, which is 20.5 percent more than for the same period of 2018.
Earlier in July, Mikhail Maltsev, director of the Ural Tourism Association, stated that the decline in the quality of service in Turkish hotels was due to the lack of competition among resorts in this country and the desire of hotel owners to maximize profits with minimal costs.
