Dmitry Medvedev supported idea of creating SEZ in Ishimbay district of Bashkiria

UFA, 2 July 2019. /Bashinform News Agency/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.
Socio-economic successes of the republic were discussed by the Acting Head of Bashkiria Radiy Khabirov at a meeting with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in Moscow on July 1. In particular, the implementation of national projects and the creation of a special economic zone (SEZ) were discussed.
The head of the region noted that the industrial production index increased in the republic - 103.5% and investments grew for the first time in three years - 104.3%.
“Certainly, the main task is the social well-being of our residents, and national projects are of particular importance in this regard. We have carried out all the necessary organizational work in this area. We have a contracting at the level of 45.5 percent, so we have all the issues solved in this part, ”said Radiy Khabirov.
According to the Acting Head of Bashkortostan, the republic is actively working in the market for attracting medical staff - plus 230 people. Today the region does not have its special economic zone. The republic took the initiative to approach the Ministry of Economic Development with this issue.
“Ishimbay is located just in the middle of the republic. It is at the junction of three cities with a total population of about half a million. This is an industrial and gas chemical center of Russia. “Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat” company is located there. We are now actively cooperating with Gazprom on a project for processing natural gas into ethylene and propylene with the polymerization of olefins what in my opinion, gives a great advantage to it. We are currently taking the first steps in this part. The formation of a special economic zone, and in the future industrial park will definitely give life to this region”, Khabirov reported to Medvedev.
The Chairman of the Russian Government noted that a decision should be made focusing on new jobs, investments, and the social effect - wage growth and social facilities.
“And if the ideas for creating a free economic zone meet all these criteria, I see no reason to discourage this initiative. Thus prepare the final proposals, ”said Dmitry Medvedev.
Earlier, the Bashinform News Agency reported that the SEZ construction in Ishimbay was discussed at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
