Mandatory labeling of drugs to combat counterfeiting is introduced in Bashkiria since 2020

UFA, 13 June 2019. /Bashinform News Agency, Azat Gizatullin/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.
From July 1, 2019, registration of pharmacies and medical organizations in the “Honest Sign” system is launched to work with drugs from the list of high-cost nosologies. These include, in particular, cancers, hemophilia, cystic fibrosis, multiple sclerosis, and several other diseases. From October 1, labeling will be mandatory for drugs from this list. Since January 1, 2020, all pharmacies, hospitals, and clinics should keep records of the use, distribution, and sale of drugs through the system of monitoring the movement of medicines.
The Interim Health Minister Maxim Zabelin, at a visiting session of the“Healthcare Hour”, explained that the purpose of labeling would be to oppose the production and trafficking of counterfeit products. Patients already in a pharmacy, having bought medicines, will be able to find out all the information about the preparation - manufacturer, shelf life, and composition after scanning the QR-code. The information first enters the unified drug accounting system of the Ministry of Health, and then the monitoring system of the Federal Tax Service.
So far, only 243 medical organizations and pharmacies out of 3531 joined the “Honest Sign” system.
According to the information of the Interim Deputy Prime Minister Lenara Ivanova, there are a number of problems with the owners of private pharmacies in cities and districts who are not quite in a hurry to connect to an automated system for the medicines movement monitoring. Radiy Khabirov instructed the heads of municipalities to resolve this issue and keep it under control.
