Unemployed number fell to 86 thousand people in Bashkiria

According to Rosstat, in the first quarter of this year, the number of unemployed in Bashkiria amounted to 86.3 thousand people. It is by 18.1% lower than a year ago, the republican Ministry of Labor reported.

The number of employed people in Bashkiria exceeded 1.808 million people, which corresponds to an employment level of 55.1%.

The total unemployment rate, according to calculations by the methodology of the International Labor Organization, amounted to 4.6% of the economically active population in the region.

For comparison: the nationwide unemployment rate is equal to 4.8%, in the Volga Federal District – to 4.4%.

Last year, respectively, in the republic it was 5.4%, in Russia - 5.1%, in the Volga Federal District - 4.7%.

According to the Ministry of Labor, since the beginning of 2019, 19.9 thousand residents of Bashkiria have received unemployment status. This is by 25.8% more than in January-April 2018.

As of May 1, the number of unemployed registered in employment centers exceeded 23.2 thousand people. This is by 18.7% more than at the beginning of the year, the department summarized.
