Most popular summer holidays destinations for Russians

Domestic destinations remain the most popular among Russians. Our compatriots choose Crimea as well as the resorts of the Krasnodar Territory - Anapa, Sochi and Tuapse for a beach holiday.

Stable demand for trips to the Black Sea is largely due to the military, who are denied access abroad. The results of the study on the upcoming summer holiday of the Russians are presented by experts of the online travel service UFS.Travel.

Despite the instability of the currency course, an increasing number of Russians are planning to spend their summer holidays abroad. Thus, Italy, Georgia, Spain, France, and Montenegro are at the top of the most popular countries among independent travelers. Of the cities, Moscow, St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg became the most sought-after domestic destinations. The average fare for summer travels in Russia and the CIS in 2019 was 3,258 rubles for train tickets and 9,937 rubles for airplanes.

Among families for traveling by train, Moscow, and St. Petersburg are especially in demand. For beach holidays, families prefer the Krasnodar Territory, including Anapa, Sochi, and Tuapse. Such demand for Russian resorts among families is primarily associated with a better price, no need to apply for visas and a favorable, comfortable climate.

The increased demand for early booking is among the main trends of this year when planning vacations. So for the summer trips, most Russians purchased rail and air tickets on average in two or three months before holidays.
