Radiy Khabirov: We should strive for separate garbage collection

The Acting Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov urged the heads of municipalities, employees of housing and public utilities, heads of councils of apartment buildings to conduct explanatory work among the population and gradually accustom citizens of the republic to civilized, separate garbage collection. In some cities of the republic there are already positive examples of collecting PET containers and papers, said the head of the region at the final part of the plenary session of the Republican forum “Upravdom” (House Manager), which was held at the Ufa Congress-Hall “Toratau”.

According to him, regional operators will develop an understanding that they are engaged in a profitable business, that garbage collection is beneficial. One of the speakers at the forum plenary cited the example of the Moscow region, where the income from recycling reached 15 billion rubles in 2017. One kilogram of PET bottles today costs 25 rubles, and a kilogram of iron cans from beer and lemonade costs 75 rubles. The collection of garbage can bring real incomes to the same regional waste operators.

A deep concern among the participants of the Republican Forum "Upravdom" caused the debt of management companies to resource-supplying enterprises. According to Radiy Khabirov, this is a critical issue. Debts of management companies hinder the development of the republic. Because of this, large monopolies are beginning to curtail their investment programs. At the same time, in Bashkortostan, the collection rate of payments from residents is at a very high level. However, this money does not reach the suppliers of heat, power, and water fully.

The head of Bashkortostan noted that all the proposals announced at the “Upravdom” forum will be carefully analyzed and after that, a list of his instructions for the ministries and departments of the republic will be compiled.
