Bashkiria has agricultural products that can enter European market - Austrian delegation

There are regional brands in Bashkiria that can enter the European food market. It was stated by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Sustainability and Tourism of Austria Josef Plank during the Agribusiness Forum, which takes place in Ufa. According to him, currently Russian-made products are not so often presented on the European shelves, but a diversity of agricultural products seen at the Agribusiness exhibition is encouraging.

“Bashkortostan has a huge potential in the development of its agriculture. We will be happy to share our know-how and practices in the field of animal husbandry, dairy cattle breeding, and the cultivation of organic products, ”said Josef Plank.

In Austria now there are more than 18 thousand producers of organic products. At the heart of this development is a clear legislative regulation of this sector development, as well as government support. Mr. Plank noted that Austria had become the number one bio-country in the European Union. Austrian products, and agricultural producers themselves and agricultural areas occupy 20 percent of the market. Every third hectare of the territory is planted with fruit trees.

The Interim Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Agriculture of Bashkortostan Ilshat Fazrakhmanov said that the opening of a representative office of Bashkortostan in Austria could promote entering Bashkir products in the European, including the Austrian market.

It was announced at an “Investment Hour” session, which took place on February 21. Then, the Acting Head of the republic Radiy Khabirov approved the idea of opening foreign economic missions of the republic abroad.
