Forest restoration share is 2 times higher in Bashkiria than in Russia

UFA, 5 March 2019. /Bashinform News Agency, Azat Gizatullin/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.
For several years, Bashkortostan has been leading in the Volga Federal District in artificial reforestation, in Russia - it takes the 4th place for the second year. The share of artificial reforestation in the republic is about 50% and is two times higher than in the country. In 2018, reforestation activities were carried out on an area of 14.9 thousand hectares, or 116% of the plan. However, according to the Minister of Forestry of the region Marat Sharafutdinov, everything is limited to the first stage. “Everything happens according to the principle: planted and forgotten, although 60% of financial and labor costs have already been invested. Moreover, without agrotechnical care, saplings do not grow to the moment of transfer to the forest fund. We should bring the work to a logical end, ”said the Minister of Forestry at the Republican Forest Forum, held on March 1 in the village of Karaidel. The Acting Head of Bashkiria Radiy Khabirov also drew attention to this in his speech. According to him, numerous cases of non-compliance with reforestation technology are recorded.
“I am instructing the Ministry of Forestry to conduct full monitoring of forest plantations of past years. Where facts of poor quality or loss of plantings are recorded, forest users must restore these plots by planting large-sized planting materials, ”said the head of Bashkortostan.
As part of the implementation of the “Forest Preservation” federal project, Bashkiria will receive more than 163 million rubles of subventions in 2019. It is the 1st place in the Volga Federal District and the sixth place in the Russian Federation. Total the financial resources amount to 2.2 billion rubles for the implementation of the project until 2024, including more than 900 million rubles from the federal budget. The republic has 105 forest nurseries with more than 70 million pieces of planting material (94% - conifers) with an annual need of 30 million.
