Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to Volga Federal District Igor Komarov visited Ufa Nuclear Medical Center

The Plenipotentiary Envoy of the President of Russia to the Volga Federal District Igor Komarov during his working trip, accompanied by the chief of staff of the head of Bashkiria, Alexander Sidyakin, and the chief federal inspector, Mikhail Zakomaldin, visited the Ufa PET Technology Nuclear Medical Center. The medical director of the center Pavel Golovin told the guests that the hospital was opened in May 2014. The volume of investments amounted to about 1 billion rubles. The main activity is cancer diagnosing using the PET method and treatment of tumors by the Cyber-Knife radio-surgical system.

“During this time, almost 20 thousand PET/CT scans and 1470 operations on the Cyber Knife system have been conducted in our center. More than 90% of patients received help free of charge at the expense of compulsory medical insurance, 6% of patients from other regions, 4% at their own expense,” Pavel Golovin noted.

Igor Komarov got acquainted with the work of the cyclotron-radiochemical complex site, the guests were shown the PET scanner and Cyber-Knife operation. The center of nuclear medicine today has a unique system for production, quality control and delivery of radiopharmaceuticals for Russia. They allow diagnosing tumors of the breast, lung, prostate, melanoma. The production center in Ufa daily produces up to 70 doses of drugs.
