Counterfeit banknotes number decreased by one third in Bashkiria

The number of counterfeit banknotes detected in Bashkiria last year decreased by 28 percent compared with 2017. A total of 218 fakes were found in the banking system of the region in 2018, the press service of the Department, the National Bank RB for the Urals General Directorate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, told Bashinform News Agency.

Thus, last year, 179 counterfeit banknotes of 5,000 rubles and 34 counterfeit banknotes of 1,000 rubles were discovered. Besides, three fake 100-ruble and two 2000-ruble banknotes were revealed. Among counterfeit banknotes of foreign countries, only three counterfeit banknotes of 100 US dollars were detected in the banking system of Bashkiria.
