Radiy Khabirov visited UMPO production facilities

UFA, 6 February 2019. /Bashinform News Agency, Azat Gizatullin/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.
Ufa Engine Industrial Association (UEC-UMPO) is a developer and largest manufacturer of aircraft engines in Russia. It is part of the United Engine Corporation (UEC) of the Rostec state corporation. Today, the production workshops of the enterprise were visited by the Acting Head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov. In 2018, at UMPO, production and technology center No. 185 (PTC No. 185) was installed, which was engaged in the production of components of the VK-2500 engine as part of the import substitution program. UMPO Managing Director Evgeny Semivelchenko told the head of Bashkortostan that these components were used for helicopter engines. More than 50 high-tech units have been installed in the production area.
Now three more PTCs are being installed in UMPO, where 250 units of high-tech equipment will be located. All centers are designed according to the best world standards and practices, including the application of lean manufacturing principles.
A year ago, in January 2018, this center was visited by Russian President Vladimir Putin. He highly appreciated the scale of the deployed production and technical equipment of the center.
In the assembly shop, Radia Khabirov was shown how the final manual assembly of aircraft engines was carried out using special tooling and non-standard equipment - from small assemblies to large ones and then into a single whole. The workshop employs fitters of the highest qualification.
Alexander Artyukhov, UEC JSC CEO, recalled that the association produces turbojet engines for the Su-35, Su-27, Su-30 family, as well as separate units for the Ka and Mi helicopters. Currently, over 23,000 people are employed at UEC-UMPO.
The company is also the developer and lead manufacturer of a promising engine for the fifth generation fighter Su-57.
Radiy Khabirov also visited the Aviation Technology Technopark, which was established in 2006 to support and promote innovative projects of high-tech products.
The director of the Technopark said that one of their projects was a development of a dual (practice-oriented) education program for future specialists in the aircraft industry. A co-working zone has been created here - a platform where students of the USATU can put into practice the knowledge gained at the university.
