8 million parcels from foreign online stores came to Bashkiria last year

UFA, 31 January 2019. /Bashinform News Agency/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.
In 2018, residents of Bashkortostan received 8.3 million international parcels (in 2017 there were 7 million). Over 90% of this volume was from China. A significant part of the flow came at the end of the year, which is associated with New Year sales: in November-December, the postal service workers received 1.4 million parcels (+ 12% compared to 2017).
In January of this year, the growth remains high: 800 thousand parcels arrived in the region (+ 10% by January 2017).
The volume of shipments in Russia over the past year increased by 15% - to 390 thousand units, according to the Office of the Federal Postal Service RB.
As previously reported, since January 1, 2019, the duty is not charged from sums up to 500 euros. From January 2020, the sum of 200 euros will become duty-free (the duty-free weight will not change - 31 kg).
Money or weight "excess" is now paid as before - in the amount of 30% of the total cost per each kilogram, but not less than 4 euros (approximately 311 rubles at the current exchange rate). Since 2020, it will be charged 15% of the cost, but not less than 2 euro per 1 kg of “extra” weight. The Russian Post is the only postal service operator authorized to conduct customs operations with purchases in foreign online stores.
