Ufa Sheraton will operate under Crowne Plaza brand

UFA, 30 January 2019. /Bashinform News Agency/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. The Ufa Sheraton Ufa Hotel will operate under the Crowne Plaza Ufa Congress Hotel brand, according to the Ufa-based Kommersant.

A representative of the Crowne Plaza European office finishes his work at the hotel, after which a franchise agreement for 20 years should be signed. “The preliminary contract was signed at the end of the year,” the source reports.

The Sheraton Ufa Hotel worked in the capital of Bashkortostan from 2015 to 2018 and was the only five-star hotel in Ufa. The final transition under the new brand will be held in February.

Since January 1, 2019, the hotel is temporarily named Congress Hotel Ufa. As reported by the Bashinform News Agency, the term of the franchise agreement concluded by the owner of the hotel - the "Granel" group with the Sheraton chain in 2015 ended on December 31, 2018.

The parties refused to extend the contract. The reason was a transfer of the Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide group, to which the Sheraton chain belongs, to Marriott International. Marriott has less flexible working conditions with partners, said a source familiar with the course of negotiations.

Sheraton Ufa was built for the SCO and BRICS Summits in 2015, opened on June 1, 2015. Investments in the project were estimated at 2 billion rubles. The hotel has 161 rooms from deluxe to presidential suite, as well as 12 halls for events and celebrations.
