Solar power plants productivity decreases by seven times in Bashkiria in winter

UFA, 30 January 2019. /Bashinform News Agency, Sergey Nikolaev/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.
Solar power producers have published production data for different months of the year. According to the "Hevel" company, the Isyangulovskaya solar power plant produced 1,481 thousand kW/h in July 2018, and in January - only 198 thousand kW/h of electricity. Thus, the indicators of production in the middle of summer and winter differ almost 7.5 times. At the Buribaevskaya SPP over the same period, the decline in output was 2.7, and at Bugulchanskaya - 3.8 times. This is due to the short duration of daylight, typical of winter, a large number of cloudy days, and snow and ice sticking to the surface of the batteries. The instability of work makes it duplicating traditional power generation or to arrange additional electrical grids to consumers.
Representatives of Hevel do not disclose the economic performance of their stations in Bashkiria. According to expert estimates, the average cost of a kilowatt of solar electricity, handed over to a single network, ranges from 25-30 rubles nationwide.
According to the data for 2018, in Bashkortostan, the average cost of electricity production from alternative sources (wind power stations, micro, and small hydroelectric power plants), that is, excluding SPP, was 6.34 rubles per kilowatt-hour. It amounted to 1.49 rubles per kW/h at traditional sources (HPP and TPP).
The Bugulchanskaya and Buribaevskaya solar power plants (SPP) were launched in 2015 and 2016 in the energy-deficient Khaibullino and Kuyurgazy districts of Bashkiria. With the launch of Isyangulovskaya SPP in late 2017, the total solar generation capacity in the region reached 44 megawatts. In total, Hevel announced its plans to build five stations with a total capacity of 65 MW in the country until 2020.
