Bashkiria’s trade and investment potential was presented at World Exhibition in India

A delegation of retail chains representatives from Bashkortostan took part in the World Food Show IndusFood, which was recently held in Delhi. It was organized by the Trade Promotion Council of India, the Ministry of Commerce and Food Industry of India. The exhibition brought together the top 500 Indian food producers and about 800 international buyers - representatives of wholesale companies, global supermarket chains, shops, catering enterprises from 80 countries.

70 businessmen from Russia visited the exhibition organized to expand food exports from India, and representatives of Bashkortostan became the largest regional delegation at the exhibition.

The business visit took place due to the initiative of the Plenipotentiary Representative Office of the Republic of Bashkortostan under the President of the Russian Federation and at the invitation of the Trade Promotion Council of India (TPCI). In India, the republic was represented by members of the Bashkir Trade Association (BTA), which unites large regional trading networks.

According to BTA CEO Elena Kislitsyna, the trip was efficient: Bashkir retail chains had a lot of B2B meetings, established direct contacts with producers of various types of food, fruit, vegetables, spices, tea, baby food, and cereals from India. It should be marked that, among others, Bashkortostan in Delhi was presented by a unique delegate - the founder of the "Kamal" wholesale company Jitender Tiwari, born in India but living in Ufa for 17 years.

Numerous B2B meetings, expert business discussions were held at the IndusFood exhibition, where market participants from all over the world discussed the problems of customs, tax and other barriers that hinder the expansion of mutual trade today. At one of these sessions, a presentation of the trade and investment potential of the Republic of Bashkortostan took place, which aroused great interest among participants from other countries.

Market participants expect greater organizational support for the expansion of mutual food trade from the upcoming opening of a special Trade Facilitation Council of India with Russia and the CIS countries in Moscow. It is scheduled for the year 2019.
