Ufa takes 6th place in congress potential rating of Russian cities

The R&C Exhibition and Research Center presented the results of the event potential study of Russian cities in 2018. Bashkiria for the first time took the sixth place, rising to two positions. The announcement of the results took place the night before in St. Petersburg as part of the ongoing Eurasian Event Forum.

At the end of 2017, the republic occupied the eighth line of the rating, in 2016 - 11.

St. Petersburg took the first place, Yekaterinburg is in the second, and Sochi is in the third, the press service of the Congress Bureau RB reports.

The study notes that the success of the republic is connected with the active work of the Bashkir Congress Bureau, as well as a presentation of a new brand in the region.

“The congress and exhibition opportunities of Ufa and the republic were presented at the Russian Federation’s common stand (RUSSIA OPEN TO THE WORLD) at the largest international industry exhibition IMEX-2018 in Germany and the 85th UFI Global Congress. The Congress Bureau has become a structure uniting hotels, congress venues, event- and service companies in the region, organizing incentive tours, scientific communities, and business,” said Nikolai Fadeev, director of the Congress Bureau RB. “Now congress offices are being established in Yekaterinburg, Krasnodar, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, and all these cities are using the Ufa model - so successful our pilot project was. This is evidenced by data on the threefold increase in the event sector in the share of the gross regional product”.

In 2018, the Congress Bureau of Bashkortostan became a winner of the annual professional award in the field of business tourism and the Russian Business Travel & MICE Award in the nomination "The Best Russian Regional Office for Tourism or Convention Bureau in the Field of MICE Promotion".
