Hotel Sheraton Ufa expects rebranding in 2019

The Hotel Sheraton Ufa in 2019 will transfer to the new hotel brand. This is reported on the official website of the hotel.

“For the period of the technical stage from January 1, 2019, and until the completion of the transition to a new brand, our hotel will be temporarily called Congress Hotel Ufa. We remain the only hotel certified in the Republic of Bashkortostan, whose five-star classification has been confirmed in accordance with the law”, the hotel’s general manager Oksana Raevskaya said in a published report.

It was noted that the changes would not affect the professional composition of the team.

The hotel administration refused to comment on the rebranding.

According to Kommersant-Ufa, the franchise agreement concluded by the hotel owner, the Granel group with the Sheraton network in 2015 expires on December 31, 2018.

The parties refused to extend the contract. According to the publication, the reason was a transfer of the Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide group, to which the Sheraton network belongs, under the control of Marriott International. Marriott has less flexible working terms with partners, a source familiar with the negotiation process reports.

The "Granel" company is negotiating with hotel operators of a class not lower than Sheraton. The transition to a new international brand is planned to be completed by February 2019.

Sheraton Ufa is the only five-star hotel in Ufa. It was built for the Summits of the SCO and BRICS in 2015, opened on June 1, 2015. Investments in the project were estimated at 2 billion rubles. The hotel’s fund has 161 rooms from deluxe to presidential suite, as well as 12 rooms for events and celebrations.
